Abstract
The elinico pat¢¥nological studies on, the placentitis were based on 32 cares of th premature rupture of membranes which were selected on dept. of obstetrical service, St. Mary¢¥s Rospital, Catholic Medical College, from Aug. to November 1968.
1. The prevalence of neutrophilic infiltration, especially in the decidua of the membranes in placentas. 4 woman who were delivered on our-servica, is described.
2. Of the placentas exauained by the 4 section mod, 7.5-percent had nentr ilic izifilt Lion in the cases of premature rupture of membranes
3. Moderate, or severe placentitis(Gradejj-1]i) cQUld he or ehated with. premature; rtnpt of membranes.
4. No significant differences between normal and infOctedll placentas were zted inn the .Maternal ages, parities, and duration of labor.
5. The distal and proximal portion of the umbilical cord were found to be useful areas for. determining whether or not severe placentitis is pz nt; .winch as the prom- e of a definitet neutrophit;c infiltration in microscopic sections from both of these cerd, areas afmQst invari..bly meant the presence of a severe placentitis.
6. Maternal blood leukoey-tes wcrc likely seemed tQ be prQp ti ate, to degree. Qf , placentitis.
7. Of the amniotic fluid cultivated, 5.3.1 per celt had miQroQrgaW*= is the placentitis due to premature rupture of membranes. Staphylococcus. aed Eseherikkia :eon were more prevalent pathogens, in the premature: rupture et mbranes
8. FuradautQin and kantr" -wee uefuh antibiotics in, the manager t of the placentitis.
